Southfields Academy DT & Arts Showcase

Every year students in the creative subjects at Southfields Academy produce incredible work. This work is assessed and students receive good marks but then it rarely gets seen by a wider audience. To change this and to shine a light on the amazing work we do here we started a DT and arts showcase. An evening to celebrate all of this great work and let more people see it. Creativity and diversity are commodities that we have in abundance at Southfields Academy and they need to be celebrated.

Southfields Academy

This was our third year running the event and the standard remains high. In the courtyard we saw work from all of the separate subjects within the Design and Technology department. From my own perspective this is a chance for all to see the breadth and depth of work carried out in my own department. I’m very proud of my staff and students. Graphic design development and final work was displayed on the walls, 3d design work was displayed in student curated areas and on white plinths around the room, fashion and textiles work was displayed on board and mannequins, carpentry students work was shown in its own area and the catering department wowed us with an Indian themed feast.

In addition, the art department displayed some fantastic work adding real colour and life to the area.
